Sitka

I just came across this picture of Sitka and it somewhow it made me feel warmer on this cold day. Sitka was found in the alley behind Prevent a Litter Veterinary Hospital a few years ago. We did all the medical (spay/tests,vacs) and began looking for a new home for her. After losing her first home because she did not "play well with others," we were lucky enough to find a wonderful couple who understood and loved her independent personality!

Lucas

Lucas is Shawnee's "brother" (not blood related). They get together and play weekly. Lucas literally saved my life when I went into a very deep depression 2 years ago. Had he not everyday annoyed me to get out of the bed I am not sure I would have pulled through. Lucas is 3 years old, my best friend and my hero!

Nelson & Mr. Peadle

Nelson (pictured here in his foster home with Mr. Peadle the cat) is one lucky beagle! Donna Webster found him, very frightened, in Caroline County with a strange object imbedded in his hip. It took literally an hour to lure him into the clinic as he inched along on his belly. Prevent A Litter (PAL) treated him, Susan Defazio fostered him, and Friends United with the Richmond Shelter (FURS) placed him in his permanent home. Now that's quite a community effort!
