The Queen of Pet Lovers Visits Richmond
Like most Richmonders, we're quite excited about the Queen's visit this week! Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, is a well-known pet lover. We are honored to have her in Virginia to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Jamestown.
Of course, we can't help but wonder, Where are the royal dogs? The Queen has five corgis (Emma, Linnet, Monty, Willow and Holly), four 'dorgis'—corgis crossed with a dachshund—(Cider, Berry, Vulcan and Candy), and five cocker spaniels (Bisto, Oxo, Flash, Spick and Span).
Something tells us that they all didn't make the trip with her. Can you picture the bunch staying at the Jefferson Hotel? Her majesty must have one top-notch pet sitter at the Royal Palace!
It's reported that when she is home at the Palace, the Queen insists on tending to her beloved dogs herself. An avid horse racing fan, her majesty also owns and breeds race horses.
