A LaBorde painting commissioned by Dr. Hogge features her dearly departed dogs Lucy, Lucia, Mo and Reuben with the magician Bodo.
This Sunday, Jan. 13, Cooper Vineyards is hosting a first-in-Virginia exhibit from New Orleans artist Martin LaBorde. His work is presented courtesy of Bee Galleries, and the gallery has generously pledged to donate 15 percent from the purchase of each piece sold at this event to support homeless pets in the care of the Richmond SPCA. Original paintings and prints will be on display at this event, along with the opportunity to meet the artist. LaBorde’s whimsical works express the colorful imagery of the bayou with alligators, moons, stars, dogs, cats, hummingbirds and flowers with a central whimsical figure and mystical magician, Bodo.
The event will include light refreshments and music by Amy Peterson & Suzanne Maertz and, of course, wine tastings from Cooper Vineyards. Facebook users can join the event and invite friends!
Additional events at Cooper Vineyards can be found on their website, and don’t forget to mark your calendar for Lucy’s Weekend on May 25 and 26! This annual benefit for the Richmond SPCA is held each Memorial weekend in memory of the winery’s beloved “found hound,” Lucy.
