Most of you know that I am partnering with Laura Posey of Dancing Elephants Achievement Group and Peter Aiken of Data Blueprint on a venture called Save This Pup, which is a website that when implemented has the potential to save millions of dogs lives throughout the United States.
In the USA, it is estimated that 4 million dogs and cats are killed each year because rescue organizations don’t have enough money to support them until they find permanent homes. Many of these animals could be saved if there was a way to raise enough money to feed, house, train and treat them.
SaveThisPup.com will connect caring people who can’t adopt a dog for whatever reason with homeless dogs in shelters and foster homes. These people can virtually sponsor a dog from a local shelter or rescue. In exchange for a monthly fee, sponsors will receive photos and updates via the website. This model has been used successfully by organizations such as “Save the Children” for over 70 years. It’s time to apply that success to homeless animals.
SaveThisPup.com will coordinate sponsorships, donation distribution, and animal updates. It’s a link between the sponsor and shelters. All donations will be passed on directly to the shelters or rescues. Expenses for the Foundation will be paid for by advertising on the site and donations.
Additionally, SaveThisPup.com will allow rescue organization to connect with each other and share resources, best practices, and an overall support network.
Finally, SaveThisPup.com will offer information for dog owners such as veterinary and training advice, a directory of local pet services and information about adoption.
